Inside and Outside Canada

International workers can apply for a Canadian work permit from inside or outside Canada. An ‘inside Canada application’ is suitable for those already in Canada with a valid temporary resident status. An ‘outside Canada application’ is required for those outside Canada or with expired temporary resident status. Both applications require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or an LMIA exemption, as well as proof of qualifications, language proficiency, and a valid job offer.
